| What do you mean by standby server in SQL Server?
When we say about the standby server in SQL it is type of server which is taken online when primary server goes offline. And application needs the server availability continuously. The requirement for a mechanism which can help to shift a primary server to secondary or standby server is always there. Below are the three types of standby servers:-
(1)Hot standby:-In Hot standby methodology is a method of redundancy in which primary and secondary backup systems run same time so the data also present in the secondary server in real time and here data is present in both server and these information are identical.
(2)Warm standby:-When we say about the Warm standup it is a method of redundancy where secondary system run in background of the primary system. And here data is mirrored in secondary server at a regular interval. So in this method both the server does not contain the same data.
(3)Cold standby:-And in Cold standby methodology it is method of redundancy where secondary server is only called when primary server is fails. And we use this system in case where data is changed infrequently or for nor critical applications. And here physical replacement of Primary server with standby server occurs in cold standby. | | |
