| Explain the two execution modes in Database Engine in SQL Server?
Below are the two execution modes in Database Engine in SQl Server:-
(1)Row-mode execution
(2)Batch-mode execution
(1)Row-Mode execution:-Whenwe say about the Row-mode as the name suggest this mode of execution is applicable when data is mainly stored in row format. Here in this mode whenever a query is executed, rows are mainly readed one by one with respect to columns specified in the table schema. After that the SQL server forms the result set from the data of columns using the statements such as Join, Select etc.
(2)Batch-mode execution:-Here in Batch-mode multiple modes are executed together as batch in this mode. This will operates on compressed data. This will offers better parallelism, faster performance and also increses memeory throughput. | | |
